Local Events in Your Area

raw-eventA critical component to reversing the diabetes epedemic and changing the health in the world is organizing a large grassroots campaign. We realize that the current diabetes organizations are not going to embrace us with open arms so the only choice we have left is to begin to organize ourselves.

Our goal is to run events across the country for Reversing Diabetes Action Day on April 25th. You can find an event in your area by clicking on the link below. If there isn’t one in your area than you can create one (Scroll down for ideas)! Also, you don’t need to be a part of a group to take action on April 25th. There are lots of things you can do on your own to support The Movement to Reverse Diabetes Naturally and make a difference in your area.

Clicking on this link will bring you to the RDN community site where all events are registered.
If you can’t find an event in your area and don’t want to organize your own fill in the form below and we will get back to you shortly with more details on how you can help!

Ideas for Events

There are a number of options for live events, depending on what you would like to do. Below are some of the ideas for events. Hopefully we will get more ideas from individual volunteers like you!

The overall goal of the events however should be to inform others and get out to people who do not know of this information. While it is great to connect with others in the different health conscious communities the goal is to introduce new people into our communities to save lives and change the planet

Some basic ideas are:

Leaflet / Flyer / Poster campaigns.

Walking around neighborhoods or public areas handing out informational pamphlets and flyers (we will be creating these) and putting up posters (asking stores to put them up) about the movement to reverse diabetes.

You can download materials by clicking here.

Speak to healthcare professionals such as doctors and chiropractors as well as places such as Yoga Studios and other health conscious centers.

With both of these there is the option of having them sign a petition to join the movement with name and email.

Download materials to give to them by clicking here.

-Healthcare workshops teaching others about the benefits of raw and living foods.

-Raw preparation classes that are open to the community.

-And we are open to your ideas also!

If you would like to participate in one of our events or host your own event just click on the links at the top of the page!

Here are some Pamphlets, Flyers and Posters that you can use for the April 25th, 2009 Reversing Diabetes Action Day! Please feel free to email us at Alex@RDNmovement.com if you have questions!

What a cool way to show your support for The Movement and to get the conversation going with others in your area! Roughly 8% of the US population is diabetic. That means that when you’re walking in public with a T-Shirt that talks about Reversing Diabetes roughly 1 out of every 10 people you walk by will have diabetes! Share your knowledge with them! Most of them don’t know that they have options to reverse their diabetes! :)

    I lost 25 pounds.
I stop my medication for high blood pressure witch is now 120/75.
I using insuline pump and I alredy cut 85% of my daly insuline.
I espect to cut 100% of my insuline in the next month.
I feel in very good health and very relax.
I’m 50 years old and diabetic since 26 years.
Tanks to all of you !!!!!

  5. Dolby says:

When you say reversing diabetes, what if you are a type 1, you cannot reverse that one. I understand the need to help others prevent becoming diabetic through diet and such. But it is misleading when you say reverse it for people who are type 1…

    namaste,

  6. admin says:

Thanks Theresa! That’s a great idea! Your support is VERY appreciated. Let me know if you have questions and how I can help you with it. We have great pamphlets that you can download and print out. :)

  7. admin says:

    Dolby,
Out of the two Type I diabetics in the film one went from 70 units a day to 5 units a day of insulin and the other one came off of his meds entirely so it is possible although very difficult with Type I’s. More importantly you can make huge changes in the meds you need.

    Hope that helps. Thanks. :)

  8. admin says:

Yes, absolutely. Send me the order ID # or the email that you ordered with and I will track down the order.

    Thanks. :)

  9. Hi Alex, How exciting! I was planning on having a diabetes support group on Saturday - May 2nd here in Lakewood, CO. I will be showing the Raw For Life DVD and offering raw vegan snacks. I’d love to have a poster and other items for the event - so this is exciting. As a healthcare practitioner I think that you are doing such important work - what a service it is to humanity. Keep up the great work as the word is getting out there.

    Best of Health,
    Connie

  10. Jennifer says:

We live in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, I don’t know where that is in relation to Orleans, Ontario (as mentioned in Ed Saucier’s e-mail above).
I don’t know if he’d like to be involved in any events on April 25th, or in any meet-up groups, but we would certainly like to at least be connected by e-mail, facebook, something via the internet.
    Here’s a testimonial of sorts:
My husband and I have been eating raw for 122 days.
He is a type II diabetic. He’s lost 76 pounds and has reduced from 195 units of insulin to 12 units per day. This has helped his health in so many ways and we are very grateful for the help from a local Ayurvedic practitioner and the books by Gabriel Cousens, M.D.,
as well as the multiple websites, and newsletters and webinars we have discovered. Jennifer

wow! is this synchronicity or what!? I will be speaking about diabetes and raw May 1st at our local raw potluck, and I was going to use the trailer of your film as an introduction. This is just great that I can use these promotional materials! Who can I contact directly if I have any questions? I really want to be a part of this movement, as I’ve been raw for over 8 years and type 1 for 35. I want every diabetic to know their options!

here’s the link to my talk in Northern CA (Petaluma, Sonoma County):

Hi Alex, Good news the DVDs arrived late this afternoon.
    Many thanks Marion Lennon

  13. Michael says:

Hi friends! This is a fantastic idea! I would so love to be a part of organizing an event–but with only a few weeks notice, it doesn’t give much time. Are you thinking of doing another such day, perhaps this fall? That would give me a bunch of time to get it together and organize the local community. Just a suggestion to give a bit more notice, please. :-)

    Have the best day ever!—Michael

  14. admin says:

    Hi Michael,

I wish I could have given more notice. :( We just have been doing so much to organize resources, etc and we launched this later than we had planned. We’ll definitely let you know about a future event. I’m sure we’ll do something similar in the future.

    Thanks so much! :)
    Alex

Alex I wrote a letter of recommendation for the soup or salad restaurant here in Tulsa. They are going to place it on the tables in a plastic holder. if you want a copy I can forward one to you I recommend the eating raw and included the web site, and spoke of the benefits of eating raw. I recommended the restaurant be cause of the diverse raw foods menu. I will be also posting the info on my web site and also the lady who has the diet plans.

  16. Jennifer says:

Our event on April 25th, at the WOW Cafe, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada
    went wonderfully well.
Thank you for all the ideas and support.
The website is wonderful, and it’s good to know
that the group members are there for each other.
    Jennifer Gray Charnoe http://ecophysics.org
(My husband, Zee, and I, have a blog at RDN
with a photo album from our event.)

  17. Laurie says:

For people with type 1 diabetes, it’s okay to take insulin - it’s a hormone their body needs just like those without type 1 diabetes. Why do you make it sound so evil? Please refer to type 2 diabetes when you just say diabetes. Thank you.

  18. admin says:

    Hi Laurie,

I would agree that it is good to take insulin when you need it. The goal with the raw food diet is to reduce the amount of insulin you need as it is a synthetic form of insulin when you are taking it for diabetes.
